War Report 2017-01-14 (Davis Nerf Club)

Well, after a busy summer of work and an autumn of school, I finally had some time to go to the Davis Nerf Club, and, to quote Tony Stark, "It's good to be back!"

More after the big drop.

Game modes:
  1. Free for All - Exactly what it says on the tin.
  2. One in the Chamber - Just like the game mode in Call of Duty. You start off with a single dart, but you can scavenge any ammo you find.
  3. Team Deathmatch - We had two spawn points, one for each team, and ran back to them whenever we got tagged out. At each, we had a moderator with a ticker keeping track of respawns. Since our playing area is large and with corridors, balconies, and multiple levels, I was able to set up shop with my superior range and rain ACC darts like swift justice.
  4. Payload - We had one moderator wearing a rubber horse head and carrying a box lid. 1 flag CTF, essentially.
  5. Humans vs. Zombies - Exactly what it says on the tin.
  6. Revolutionary War - Another name for "Civil War". Each team lines up and takes turns firing at each other. Good winding-down game.
  7. Alamo - The defenders have to stay within an area and try to survive for 10 minutes; the attackers try to tag the defenders. If an attacker is tagged, they have to go back to the spawn point. If a defender is tagged, they become an attacker.
Blasters used:

  • '95 Crossbow
    Mods: Level 3
Comments: The angle of the foregrip causes your shots to go above your sight line. Also, its ROF is far too low for close quarters usage. However, it shines in long range skirmishes. I got one lucky tag at extreme range and the other team ducked whenever they heard its distinctive "CRUMP!"
    Rating: 6/10
  • NXT Crossbow
    Mods: Bone stock
Comments: The most awkward blaster I have ever used. Its design is simple but horrid. You have to pull the string back manually and wedge it into the catch for each shot, then load your dart into the firing slot. To make matters worse, it has an accurate range of 1 meter.
    Rating: 0/10
  • Longshot
    Name: Armistice Day
    Mods: Air restrictor, K26
Comments: A damn fine DMR. In round 1 of Team Deathmatch, I tagged several people at long range, including a headshot that stung from 50 feet away.
    Rating: 10/10
  • Stampede #1
Mods: Minimized, voltage, blue paint job
  • Stampede #2
    Mods: Carved-out stock, carved-out front-grip, LIPO pack.
  • Retaliator
    Mods: Worker everything.
  • Elite Alpha Trooper
Mods: Stronger spring, air restrictor, unlocked
Comments: Perfect for spray and pray. I dumped foam out faster than the people with Rapidstrikes or Stampedes, but my pumping arm got tired quickly.
    Rating: 7/10
  • Secret Shot II
    Name: Secret Surprise
Mods: CPVC inserts, neon green paint
Comments: When it saw fit to fire, it punched hard. However, it let me down when I got ambushed and wouldn't fire at a zombie.
    Rating: 3/10
  • Buzz Bee Big Blast
    Mods: PVC coupler
Comments: First, the Conduit BRiSC blew up when I tried testing it on a moderator. Then, the trigger sheared apart when I tried firing the absolver into a crowd of zombies. The gremlins really did a number on it.
    Rating: 1/10
All told, it was a grand day out. Sure, I came back with fewer darts and a broken blaster, but it was fun! I know what I want to do this Saturday!
