Welcome to Sacratomato!

Keheheh, I've been postin' for almost a year, now, and I haven't taken the time to make an introductory post. I think I am doing this to let Drac know who challenged him: some of Sacratomato's finest modders!
More after the big drop.

Nutcrackers

It's Christmas-time, so many people go to see the famous ballet "The Nutcracker." Here in Sacratomato, we have something completely different: the Nutcracker EX-1.

One Hundred

I was messing around yesterday with my Razor Shot, and I discovered something uber-crazy.

More after the big drop.

Rebelle Trooper

I was thinking, and I had this crazy idea. In one stroke, Hascorp could increase sales of Rebelle blasters and satisfy the many members of the NIC, and Nerfers in general, who weren't lucky enough to be able to buy an Elite Alpha Trooper. At first, I had no real name for this idea, except for the "Rebel Trooper."

I'm Swamped! Help!

Help!!!
Guys, I am way too busy with school to be able to right much.
I've got finals and a research paper within a few weeks, so don't expect to hear from me until this pile of stuff to do is finished.

Hasbow, Enough!

OK, I've got a new nickname for Hascorp: Hasbow!
They make too many bows!

Now, they've made the "Crossbolt". (Image courtesy of Bazookafied)

So, it's some sort of mag-fed blaster. The light-gray chunk up top is probably what is used to prime this, but how do the darts feed? Does this pull darts through by their heads?

Anyway, it's got 1 rail, down low. Do the bow arms do anything, or can I just remove them?

However it ends up, this looks like the illegitimate offspring of a Crossfire bow and an Elite Rayven. Ugly!

Maybe, it'll be useful, like the EAT? Nah!

What do you think? Please leave your comments below!

Why, Hascorp, why?

In life, people make mistakes. Usually, they learn from their mistakes, but sometimes people repeat the same mistake over and over.
Apparently, Hascorp hasn't learned from its mistakes: they've resurrected that oh-so-brilliant idea of a blaster that compacts down into a storage mode.

About freexin' time!

Y'know, Hascorp has taken its design cue from us modders a couple of times now.
First, they took our mag-fed barricade mod and made the Stryfe.
(Images courtesy of Modworks and Hasbro, respective to their position)

Something modders have done to the Maverick since Blue was give it extra cylinders. (courtesy of HvZ Forum)

That hasn't changed 1 iota with the NSE Strongarm. (Image courtesy of instructables.com)

Anyways, Hascorp has leaked the "Fury-Fire", a "new" Zombie Strike blaster that really is just a Strongarm that comes pre-modded for capacity.

What we have here is a Strongarm, with the cylinder release near the bottom, where both lefties and righties can reach it! So, if we Mav-strap this, we've got a dual-wieldable monstrosity!
There's nothing to this; it's just an XD Strongarm in Blaze Orange with 6 extra shots to the reload and 1 less step when modding it! I wonder how ugly it'll be when I rig up a 6-cylinder carousel?

What the absolute heck?

Well, Hascorp has really thrown us a curveball with the "Sharpfire" which is the first really new idea they've had in years. For one, it is not a flywheel, and seems to not have a "smart" air-restricter.

Anyway, the stock appears to be separate from the body of the gun, making this a two-function weapon: carbine and pistol.

Most likely, darts are loaded into the muzzle, then the slide is pulled back, and the blaster is fired. What I hope is that the slide covers where the darts go, making this a breach-loaded pistol.

These really look like Jango Fett's pistols from Star Wars Episode II. Agreed?

No matter what, the stock/holster has a ton of dart-storage, 1 more than the Sweet Revenge's 5. For when in holster-mode, the stock has a belt clip on the side.

Upcoming Foam from Hascorp

We know what the main blasters that Hascorp has in store for us this fall are.  We've all seen the Demolisher, the Slingfire, the Rhinofire, the Thunder Bow, and probably seen pix of the Cam, but there is one mystery blaster left: the "Ranger One" or "Tour Trooper".

SBNC has outlined what we know about this blaster here: SBNC's Article
1. It's similar to the Retaliator.
2. It has a priming bolt (i.e. Centurion, Longstrike, Longshot)

In addition, Rob conjectured that:
3. It's a sniper style blaster
and
4. [He doesn't] know if the barrel and shoulder stock will be removable.

That's great, but he forgot one other blaster that had a bolt, and something that wasn't sniper but had the Retaliator's plunger tube: the Vulcan and the Stampede, respectively.

Here's what my idea of what the Ranger might (should) look like:

Hey, this is practical!  Hascorp can do it! Look here:

Hasbro?  We're waiting!  Please give us something awesome, for a change!

Stock Blaster Review: Rapidstrike CS-18

I have had a Rapidstrike for several months now, and I have found it to be a pretty worthy blaster.

For those of you who are considering purchasing one, the Rapidstrike is a full-auto, fly-wheel blaster made with the intent of being a SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon).

Capacity
As a SAW, the 18-dart mag it comes with vanishes really quickly, and seems to only whet its appetite. In my opinion, Hasbro should have equipped it with a 25-dart drum, or even better: a 35-dart drum.
When used as an assault rifle, however, it's like bringing a katana to a knife fight.  18 darts is plenty when you're actually aiming and firing in bursts
(Usable capacity: 8/10)

Accuracy
Also, its accuracy is less than superb. At range, at least. Up close, it is deadly accurate. The reason that the long-range shots aren't as accurate is that the darts fishtail through the air, and wobble as they fly.
[All fly-wheel blasters have this self-same problem, so it's pretty accurate given the 'wheels.]
(Close accuracy: 8.5/10)
(Range accuracy: 7/10)

Range
This leads us to range. I'm not talking about arc ranges that are advertised on the box, I'm talking about the flat ranges. They say that it can reach 75 ft, but that's at a 45° arc. From the shoulder, aimed straight at somebody, the darts hit dirt at around 45 ft.
(Effective range: 7.5/10)

Rate of Fire
This is fun part of the Rapidstrike: like with the Stampede, Vulcan, Swarmfire, and Nitron; you can just pull the trigger back and rock-n-roll. Apart from the Vulcan (Or Havok-Fire), the Rapidstrike has the highest stock ROF. Granted, el twitcho with a Stryfe, Rayven, or Hailfire can get slightly much better ROF, but he had to mod his blaster to get rid of the dart-tooth and several locks; and his trigger finger's gotta grow hecka thick calluses. The Rapidstrike doesn't need any modding to have awesome ROF, but to have ΓΌber-epic ROF, and range, all you have to do is rewire it and shove in OP batteries.
(ROF: 10/10)

Modding Potential
As I said, it's not too hard to mod the Rapidstrike. What you'll need are pliers, wire cutters, a soldering iron, wire, and solder, along with a Longshot barrel-extension barrel.  Boom!  Peacekeeper!
(Modding Potential: 10/10)

Overall Ratings
The Rapidstrike is a good power weapon, meant for mid-range slaughter, and excellent at what it does. Mods for this are easy, and make it a little better, but the accuracy at range leaves a bit to be desired.

Why Not?

What with two different boosted Stryfes coming out at once, I had a sick and twisted idea: why not combine them?  Boost the Cam ECS-12 to be worth the exorbant $75 charge!

Here's the mash-up!
Right, this thing would come with a 15-dart banana mag, under-slung grenade launcher, and integrated tactical scope.

Let me know what you think!

What just happened?

I was doing my rounds, like any good blogger should do, and something caught my eye.  There are not one, but two upgraded Stryfes coming out this Fall (2014).
This new one is called the "Cam ECS-12", and its only major feature is a built-in camera.

It seems like a cross between the Stryfe and the Stampede, with the flywheel aspects of the former and the general outline of the latter.  The camera can also be used as an optic sight, but the resolution isn't the greatest appearantly.

Still, this is only semi-auto, so unless you are el twitcho, you're not going to get great ROF out of this, and being a Nerf blaster, the range won't be very good.  Still, this looks pretty good, but uber expensive at $75.  This is definitely not something you can trash without feeling bad, because of the price tag.

I'm hoping that Hasbro will drop this to something reasonable, like $30, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

If Only: Spartan NCS-12

Do any of you remember the old N-Strike series of video games for the Nintendo Wii? If you do, raise your hand. If you remember this battle rifle, keep your hands raised. For those of you who don't have your hand still raised, or have forgotten about this beast, the Spartan NCS-12 was a 3-round burst blaster in the N-Strike games.

Anyway, I have taken the liberty of indicating where much of the stuff would go if this was real. (If this was the “Secret Mystery Blaster” whose slot was empty that UK Nerf was speculating about.

This really should have 4 rails, or 5 if the top one has two accessory teeth attached. The “Fire mode selector would be more of an “on/off” switch, like on the Stampede. This is pretty much a cross between the Vulcan (bolt action/full-auto) and the Stampede (Box-fed epicness).

3-round burst is just too hard, especially with the video games' ROF of 9.1 darts/second. Full auto with 6 darts/second seems more reasonable, and fun. Hey, they could make the selector “Off/Semi/Full”, with “Off” indicating manual, not “safe” like most rifles have.

The OJ-Strike paint-job would look fine on this, the NSE-Blue would look good, the Stinger Yellow would look good, the Mega Red would look good, any color scheme.

Demolisher 2-in-1

So, we've had a ton of speculation surrounding the upcoming Demolisher 2-in-1, depicted below.

What we have here looks from the right to be a crossover of Rayven CS-18, Longshot CS-6, and Stryfe CS-6.
Rayven, because we can see a top rail and a side rail.
Longshot, because it comes with an under-barrel cannon.  (Hopefully with better range than the dud that came with the LS)
Stryfe, because it has a detachable stock, flywheels, and the flywheel blaster mag-release button.

We were hoping that the rail on the right would be mirrored by one on the left, but no such luck, as seen below.

And the under-slung grenade launcher, to quote Adult Fans of Nerf, (Above image kudos to them) "does not come off, just like it appears in the pictures we’ve seen. It also sounds like it gets pretty decent ranges despite having a very simple method of operation. When you push the slide forward it primes the launcher and it launches on the pull back."

This monster looks to be about as front-heavy as a rapidstrike, but much more compact.  Still, it's only semi-auto, which ruins the M4-aspect a little.  Good news: There's ~8 months until this drops, and this has already "changed 3 times in the last 6 months", to quote UK Nerf.
(Enough time for them to make this full-auto, and make the banana magazine hold 20-rounds!)

Utility-wise, the stock is a good idea, but looks like the 'nade will get in the way, and easily fall out.  Either a Raider-class stock or a Spectre stock would be quite efficient, or if you wanted extra ammo, a Recon stock.

Also, the tac-rail on top seems too far forward for comfort, but we'll have to delay judgement until this drops.

I love the barrel-extension port, and the under-slung 'nade launcher, and am waiting for when this is released.
